UMs set pace for area Crop Walks

Austin District churches led the way in the area’s Crop Walks last spring. Crop Walks raise funds to fight hunger locally and globally.
Twenty-five United Methodist congregations participated in the Crop Walks, raising more than $30,000 toward the 2005 total of $121,000.
First UMC, Austin, was the No. 1 Austin Crop Walk congregation, with 70 walkers raising $7,880. Austin’s No. 1 Crop Walker was 8-year-old Conor Murphy of Leander UMC. He raised more than $2,600.
Crop Walks are scheduled for the fall in these Austin District communities:
> Bastrop, Oct. 2.
> Hays County/San Marcos, Oct. 2.
>Lockhart, Oct 22.
> Industry, Nov. 13.
