Ingleside church to celebrate centennial at Oct. 1 service
Ingleside UMC is to celebrate 100 years in ministry Oct. 1, with a 10:45 a.m. worship service.
Following a noon lunch, a time of sharing memories and songs is planned in the sanctuary.
The church is at 2572 Church St., Ingleside.

Annual golf tournament scheduled for October
United Campus Ministries of Corpus Christi plans its Second Annual Golf Tournament Oct. 28, on Oso Municipal Golf Course.
This tournament is designed to help raise money for United Campus and to provide fun for participants.
If you’re a golfer, get a team together, and register for this event. If you don’t play golf, you can still help out by becoming a hole sponsor for the event.

Administrative staff meeting set for Oct. 11 at District Office
The administrative staff quarterly meeting is to be Oct. 11 at the District Office from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Lunch will be provided by the District Office. All district secretaries and administrative staff members are invited to attend.
Charlie Spiekerman is to be doing a presentation on photography. Attendees are encouraged to bring their digital cameras.

Woodsboro church embraces September Open House Month
Faith United Church, Woodsboro, had a full month of Open House activities planned.
The congregation identified prospective guests, who would receive both written and phone invitations to attend worship, Sunday school, and Wednesday night dinner and study. 
Sept. 10 was Rally Sunday. The church kicked off its Sunday school classes for the fall and recognized educators in the community with a special meal.
Sept. 17 was Civil Servant Sunday. All the city and county employees were invited to worship for special recognition and thanks with a basket of cookies.
Sept. 24 the congregation plans a community block party at 7 p.m. on the church grounds. Several church members and locals are to provide entertainment while attendees snack on ice cream and homemade goodies. 
All month long Faith church is making a special effort to have extra hospitality on Sunday mornings and has advertised its events through the local paper and through fliers at the post office.

Clergy Care Program offers blood screening, breakfast
The blood screening in the Corpus Christi District for the Clergy Care wellness program has been scheduled for Sept. 28 from 8 to 11 a.m. in the fellowship hall of First UMC, Corpus Christi.
The screening includes blood pressure, lipid, CMP, thyroid II and PSA (men older than 50).
Before testing, you must complete an overnight fast. Breakfast will be provided for you after the testing.
You must register to participate before Sept. 28 by calling the Rev. Rick Waters at (210) 382-4586 or (512) 267-2877 or Isabel Munoz at (210) 408-4526 or (888) 349-4191.
An online health risk assessment and blood screening must be completed by Oct. 13.
The Clergy Care program includes incentives: $20 for each completed component (total $80), a $160 stipend for a personal retreat and $200 health insurance premium rebate to your church after all four components.

Free Christian concert features local musicians, praise teams
St. John’s UMC, Corpus Christi, is having a free contemporary Christian music concert Sept. 29. 
St. John’s youth band, Serenity, is to open the concert at 6:30 p.m., followed by Debra Scott and Prophecy, the church’s Sunday morning praise team. The offering goes to Wesley Community Center. 
Free childcare is provided, and refreshments will be available. Call the church office at (361) 991-4342 for information.

Parents Night Out provides fun for all children, parents
Parents are invited to spend an evening together while their children have fun in the St. John’s UMC nursery.
Parents Night Out is being offered Saturday from 5 to 9 p.m. at a cost of $10 per child (that’s $2.50/hour). Additional children in the same family receive a discounted rate of $5 per child.
