140 have fun at District YOUth Olympics

More than 140 youths and sponsors gathered Sept. 10 to enjoy fun and fellowship at First UMC, McAllen, during the fall gathering— District YOUth Olympics.
Youths from Raymondville, Los Fresnos, Port Isabel, La Feria, Harlingen, Mission, Edinburg and McAllen were present.
After an hour of fun and games, food was served by the McFirst Men and the 20/30’s class of First UMC, McAllen.
Just as rain began to fall, the Valley Praise Band led students in worship inside the fellowship center.
Taylor Kittleman, Southwest Texas Conference Council on Youth Ministries president, spoke about “Standing Up.” That referred to See You at The Pole, scheduled for Sept. 27 at local schools.
SYATP bracelets were passed out for kids to wear and to use as invitations for others to join them.
District youth professionals were to gather at First UMC, McAllen, Thursday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. The Rev. Rusty Freeman, conference youth ministries director, was to attend.
The next district youth event is scheduled for a Saturday in December (date is pending) at San Pablo UMC, Alamo, for a Christmas Share with lots of children.
