Young Women’s Event to be held in December
The United Methodist Women of the Southwest Texas and Rio Grande conferences are planning a gathering for young women 14 through 30.
“Young Women! Shine!” is the theme of the event. It will be at Mount Wesley Conference Center, Kerrville, Dec. 28 through 30.
Young women will be gathering from all over Texas and New Mexico to experience dynamic and creative worship, Bible study and spiritual growth, exciting fellowship and supportive community, and leadership development. Among the topics for discussions will be issues facing young women.
Scripture focus will be Matthew 5: 14-16: “You are the light of the world—like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”
Women 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult sponsor 26 or older.
Registration fee is $125 per person. That includes five meals and lodging for two nights. Childcare is available for children 5 and under. The fee for that service is $60 per child.
Deadline for registration is Nov. 18. Registrations after this date will incur a $10 late fee.
Because of the costs involved in preparation for the event, there is a cancellation fee of $50 after Dec. 5. However, registration can be transferred to another woman at any time.
