P.E.T. Project volunteers go to church
in Luling Sept. 22-24 for annual meeting

The Luling branch of P.E.T. Project Texas played host to the annual conference of P.E.T. Project International in the fellowship hall of First UMC, Luling, Sept. 22-24.
P.E.T.s are Personal Energy Transportation vehicles made by P.E.T. workers for victims of landmines, wars, illnesses and other calamities in Third World countries. P.E.T.s are designed to give disabled individuals a sense of dignity and a means of moving from place to place.
Nearly 30 people from Texas and six other states attended the conference. These included Joe and Karen Svoboda, Jake and Gwen Royall and the Rev. Will and Cookie Paradeaux of Luling; Mike and Karen Adams of Lockhart; Dave Fraiser and Joe Shubar of San Antonio; Mr. and Mrs. Kirby Goering of Mound Ridge, Kan.; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Truhn of Michigan; Steve Baima, Kathy Maynard and Mr. and Mrs. Mel West of Columbia, Mont.; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Wrinkle of Aurora, Mont.; Barbara Chase and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hills of Penney Farms, Fla.; Freddie Brown of Mur-freesboro, Tenn.; and Mr. and Mrs. Don Muth of East Jewett, N.Y.

The P.E.T. volunteers were served a typical Luling barbecue supper by the United Methodist Women of First UMC Friday and lunch by Disciples of Christ from First Christian Church Saturday.
Some out-of-town visitors attended the 8:30 a.m. Sunday service at First UMC before heading home.
