My Job Workshop offered Jan. 13 at Grace UMC

My Job Workshop 2007 will be Jan. 13 from 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Grace UMC, 11222 Leopard St., Corpus Christi. The event is sponsored by the Corpus Christi District and will be providing quality leadership training for the laity.
My Job Workshop offers a prime opportunity for both new and experienced leaders to become better equipped to do the work God has called them to do in local churches. Pastors are encouraged to attend as well. The great lineup of topics and presenters offers something for everyone, and it is provided at no cost to participants.
This year we will offer two special extended presentations from 9:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The Rev. David Seilheimer, Southwest Texas Conference treasurer, will present an in-depth session on “Church Finance,” a must for finance committee chairs and members, treasurers and other laity interested in knowing more about the role and responsibilities of this committee.
The Rev. Barbara Ruth, Corpus Christi District superintendent, will lead an extended session about the work of the “PPR/SPR Committee.”
Other topics include: “Stewardship,” led by Texas Methodist Foundation; “Worship,” led by the Rev. John Wright of Grace UMC; “Creating Discipleship Systems,” led by the Rev. Will Rice, Grace UMC; “Finding Common Ground on Living Out Our Faith and the Gospel,” led by members of the conference Board of Church and Society; and “The Role of the Trustees in the Local Church.”
My Job Workshop 2007 brochures have been mailed to pastors, lay leaders and other committee chairs in all local churches. The brochures include the event schedule, a description of all topics available and a preregistration form.
Childcare will be available at Grace UMC at no cost. Parents needing this service must preregister by indicating the number of children and their age on the registration form.
All local churches are encouraged to take advantage of this training opportunity offered by the Corpus Christi District. Preregistration for this free event will ensure sufficient handout materials.
