Bruni, Freer UMs bake 4,860 cookies
in 3 hours for Kairos event in Beeville

Members Linda Barcus, Buddy Moglia, Jeannie Moglia, Glenda Gunkel and Pastor George Barcus from Bruni and Freer UMCs baked 4,860 cookies (405 dozen) in a little more than three hours recently.
These “cookies for Kairos No. 23” were delivered to the McConnell unit in Beeville.
The Kairos spiritual retreat for inmates began Nov. 2 and ended Nov. 5. On the Saturday of the retreat, each inmate, commonly referred to as “brothers in white,” received a dozen homemade cookies. More than 4,500 cookies were need for the entire weekend.
The “brothers” received some extra cookies to take back to their dorms or cells to pass out to others as an act of forgiveness in response to the forgiveness they had received through Christ.
