Reporter accepts job to
expand communication

The McAllen District Communications Committee has named Mary Howard the district reporter. She is in charge of facilitating communication across the district from church to church.
The District Committee on Communications endorsed Howard as district reporter Oct. 25. This volunteer position has no compensation except the gratitude of the district.
Traveling throughout the district with Superintendent Larry Howard, Mary Howard was struck by the creative and inspirational ways the various churches were meeting their challenges to offer Christ to all.
She also sensed a feeling of isolation because of the distance between churches.
Churches were experiencing similar challenges, she noted. Yet they were unaware of each other’s creative risk-taking mission and service to address those challenges.
Great mission and service is being accomplished and envisioned by the McAllen District churches, she said —even those with small budgets and/or small membership but with large faith and hope and a willingness to expend their energies for the cause of Christ in their communities and around the world.
Sharing these accomplishments and visions with sister churches can serve to keep us faithful and encouraged.
