Shawl ministry in San Benito marks birthday

The Prayer Shawl Ministry of First UMC, San Benito, celebrated its first anniversary in October.
During worship Oct. 29, the ministry blessed its 100th prayer shawl. 
Through the love, support and prayers of the congregation, the ministry has been able to share God’s love with many people. Those included are not only from the congregation but also are family members and friends.
The church’s prayer shawl ministry has sent prayer shawls to Michigan, Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Oklahoma and Missouri as well as Dallas, Houston, Austin and Wichita Falls.
In the McAllen District six churches are involved in the prayer shawl ministry. They are First UMC, Port Isabel; First UMC, San Benito; First UMC, Donna; First UMC, Brownsville; First UMC, McAllen; and Trinity UMC, McAllen.
