Corpus Christi District happenings

My Job Workshop slated for Jan. 14
Corpus Christi District My Job Workshop is scheduled for Jan. 14. It will begin at 9 a.m. and last until 12:30 p.m. Location is Grace UMC, Corpus Christi.
The My Job Workshop will offer training for all laypeople on topics concerning pastor-parish relations committees, trustees, finance, disaster preparedness, social issues, endowment funds and planned giving, youth ministry, Christian education, and more.


’06 Brush Country laity celebration set
Nominations are being accepted for laity awards to be given at the annual Brush Country laity celebration Feb. 15
The event will be at First UMC, Beeville, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Nazi camp survivor to speak at St. John’s

A man who spent six years in some of the Nazis’ most notorious concentration camps is to speak Dec. 4 at St. John’s UMC, Corpus Christi, at 7 p.m.
Ernest Michael served as a special correspondent at the Nuremberg War Crimes trial after the war. He went on to work as a leader in the United Jewish Appeal- Federation.

Volunteers sought for ADHD study
Parents of children age 6 to 11 diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder are invited to participate in a study focusing on parent training programs and ADHD. The child must currently be living with you.
The study will be conducted by a doctoral candidate from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
Participants will be asked to complete questionnaires and take part in a nine-session group program. Responses will be confidential.
The group meetings are to take place at Texas A&M University’s Antonio E. Garcia Arts and Education Center.
This is a free program.
