2 Southwest Texans attend 1st
summit on young adult ministry
Two Southwest Texas Conference representatives attended the first-ever United Methodist Young Adult Leadership Summit in November in Nashville, Tenn.
Associate Pastor Kyle Toomire of First UMC, Austin, and Associate Pastor Leslie Tomlinson of First UMC, San Marcos, joined some 90 participants from 35 conferences at the Nov. 12-13 gathering.
The event, sponsored by the General Board of Discipleship, brought together young adult leaders from various conferences for training, networking and empowerment.
“Churches that want to reach young adults must create spaces where young adults feel comfortable pushing the envelope, asking hard questions and seeking God as an authentic and relevant part of their lives,” board staff member Bill Lizor told the group.
