District to offer ‘My Job’
workshop Feb. 11

The Austin District My Job Workshop and Laity Celebration with Bishop Joel N. Martinez will be Saturday, Feb. 11, at Northwest Hills UMC, 7050 Village Center Drive, Austin.
“My Job Workshop—Equipping the Saints to Serve” will begin with registration at 8 a.m. and conclude with the Laity Celebration luncheon at 12:30 p.m.
This training, featuring topics ranging from “Small Groups” and “Welcoming Congregation” to “Ushering in the African-American Tradition” and “Christian Education in the Small Membership Church,” is for all leaders and potential leaders in the local church—lay leaders, trustees, administrative board members, treasurers, committee chairs, Christian educators, small group leaders and committee members. Any church member who holds or aspires to a lay leadership position will find topics of interest and is encouraged to attend. This training program is especially valuable to new church leaders.
Participants may choose from more than 20 exciting and diverse topics offered during two 75-minute sessions. Each session offers a variety of topics of interest to the church lay leader.
Immediately following the My Job Workshop is the celebration luncheon. The Austin District will recognize Excellence in Lay Ministry and Innovation in Programming. Also at the celebration luncheon, Bishop Joel N. Martinez will present the Bishop’s Exemplar Award.
The award recipients will be chosen from nominations made by the local churches in the district.
“My Job Workshop—Equipping the Saints to Serve” is free, and no advance registration is necessary. Tickets for the Laity Celebration luncheon will be available for purchase at the door.

Each child will need to bring a sack lunch if staying through the Laity Celebration. Deadline for childcare reservations is Jan. 27.
