set for Feb. 3 at Austin church

The Austin District is sponsoring “My Job” training for all local church leaders and potential leaders Feb. 3 at First UMC, Austin.
The district Laity Celebration is to follow the morning of training.
Workshops for lay leaders, committee members and chairs, Christian educators, and Sunday school teachers are planned. Participants can choose from a variety of topics and attend two sessions.

Alternative giving fair kicks
off Wimberley holiday season

An alternative giving fair at Wimberley UMC over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend raised more than $1,500 for organizations helping the marginalized in the world.
Because of the overwhelming response, church leaders plan to make the fair a regular event.
The local Ministerial Alliance, Mother’s Day Out program, Habitat for Humanity, KAIROS prison ministry, United Methodist Youth Fellowship, Church World Service and Heifer Project International were a few of the ministries highlighted and supported during the fair.
Some 60 people visited the ministry displays during intergenerational Sunday school time.
Adults and children also participated in making Christmas cards for 29 inmates in Texas prisons.
