Southwest Texas Conference Scholarships

The Southwest Texas Annual Conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry (BHECM) administers three scholarship programs. These scholarships are merit awards and will be given annually by the Conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry. High-school seniors through college seniors are eligible to be nominated for these programs. One, in the amount of $500-1,000, is offered by the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM) for a student attending any recognized United Methodist-related institution. Two others, ranging from $500-1,500, are offered by the Craven-Wilson Fund for students attending either Texas Wesleyan University or Lon Morris College. The GBHEM Scholarship is based on a rebate resulting from the Annual Conference’s response to the United Methodist Student Day Offering. The Craven-Wilson Scholarships are based on interest accrued yearly for each fund of the two institutions.

Scholarship

Advance Special #2017

The Conference Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry administers scholarships and financial aid annually on the basis of merit, including special vocational preparation for ministry, church involvement, financial need, and academic achievement.
Scholarships are awarded to undergraduates who are members of churches within the bounds of the Southwest Texas Conference and will be attending United Methodist-related colleges and universities.

The Advance Special #2017 for Higher Education Scholarships receives individual, small group and congregational gifts in any amount to apply to merit scholarships. Contributions sent through the local
church will help that congregation reach Five Star recognition.

This allows more - and more substantial -  scholarships to be awarded to students of the Southwest Texas Conference. To contribute, send checks, payable "SWTC Treasurer," to
     United Methodist Center
     16400 Huebner Road
     San Antonio TX 78248-1693.
In the memo section, mark your check "Conference Advance 2017."
